It’s a story as old as time . . .
One boy at work on a Friday, counting down the minutes until the weekend. Another boy procrastinating on his MBA project, searching for ways to distract from the work ahead. Just like in the fairy tales, the stars aligned when they both sent fire emojis 🔥 and a simple “Happy Friday” message on an app. The rest is history and their relationship was sealed on that Good Friday in Louisville, Kentucky.
Okay, so maybe our love story started a bit unconventional, but who likes being basic? Not us. Which is why, six months later, we quickly decided to head South to Austin in search of hot summers, breakfast tacos, live music and new careers.
We made ATX our home and in 2017 put our relationship to the test by building our first home in South Austin. After surviving that with flying colors, Ryan knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Matt. In August 2018, we were enjoying our time in Paris, France but in addition to playing soccer in the World Gay Games, Ryan had other plans - getting down on one knee under the lights of the Eiffel Tower. While they enjoyed a Parisian feast on the lawn of the Eiffel Tower with other friends who were also there to play soccer, Ryan nervously grabbed Matt’s hand and asked him to marry him. Matt exclaimed “Absolutely Yes!”. Ryan was so distracted by the moment he grabbed the wrong hand, so they had to redo some photos (which is on-brand for Ryan).
The two of us have been sidekicks since April 2012 and that’ll never change. We’ve experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows together and can’t image navigating life with anyone else. The year 2020 is going to be an unforgettable year (OMG, will it ever!) as we are going to solidify our partnership and unite our families. We look forward to what will inevitably be a perfect vision for our future. Get it, 20/20?! 👀
With all our love ❤️,
Matt & Ryan
